Adding new MIME types in CPanel

*This article assumes you are already logged into CPanel*

Before we begin: What does MIME stand for?

Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. MIME types allow you to view non-ASCII formats in both your internet browser and email (.jpg files for example).

In cpanel there is an icon labeled as MIME Types in the "Advanced" box, click on this to go to the MIME type page and you will see 2 boxes along with a list of all the currently installed MIME types.

To begin, enter the MIME type you will be adding in the first box to the left. In the box to the right of that, enter the extensions the MIME type will be associated with.

Once you have entered the designated information, click on the button labeled as Add. This will take you to a page telling you that the new MIME type has been added.
