Creating email forwarders and Alias's in CPanel

*This article assumes you are already logged into CPanel.*

From the main page of CPanel, click on the icon labelled as "Forwarders" found in the mail box. On this page you will see 2 options that say "Add Forwarder" and/or "Add domain forwarder". Click on "Add forwarder" to proceed to the next page.

You will see an empty box followed by a box that has your domain or subdomain name in it. In the first box, type the prefix for the email address you will be using for forwarding email. ("thefirstpartofyouraddress@")

If you are using a subdomain, click on the drop down box and choose which subdomain you wish to use. In the last box on the right, type in the full email address that all email will be forwarding to. Now click on the button that reads "Add Forwarder".

This will take you to a new page that will say you have successfully added an email forwarder. Now all email for the designated email address will be automatically forwarded to the other email address. Email forwarding can also be used as an email alias, so for example, lets say to want all incoming emails from a supermarket to go to your main address, well, all you need to do is create a forwarder that specifies all emails sent to supermarket @ yourdomainname . com > the email address you want them forwarded to such as realaddress @ yourdomainname . com

This saves you having to ever give out your real address to web sites that you are not sure of, and should you stop using that website, you can simly delete the forwarder and further emails from that address should bounce.
