Top level Domain name registrations
Top level domain names are the extensions used to register domains for general purposes or business use.
Who can register top level domains?
Everyone in the world can register top level domains. (TLD's)
Are there specific requirements to register top level domains?
Minimum 2 characters. Maximum 63 characters. You can't start or end TLD domains with a ("-") sign.
Minimum registration period: 1 years
Domain name registration cost per year: £10.00
Domain name transfer cost : £10.00
Domain name release fee: £0.00
Transfer policy: The transfer costs include a renewal of the domain. The registration expiry date will change, 1 year renewal will be added to the original expiry date. All top level domains require an EPP key to order a transfer which must be obtained from the existing (Losing) registrar.
Redemption period: When any TLD domain name expires, it will enter a redemption period for 29 days, starting from the 1st day of expiry, where it cannot be used, sold or updated unless it is renewed. During this redemption period, a redemption fee of £100 is due on top of the domain name renewal fee. During this redemption period, any TLD name is redeemable upon payment of renewal and redemption fee's.
After the redemption period has passed, TLD's are deleted and fall into a 5-day pending delete status at the Registry. You cannot recover domains with a pending delete status. At the end of pending delete status, the domain is dropped by the Registry and is available for anyone to register as a brand new name.
