Denial of service outage

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Dear all

Currently we are dealing with a Denial of service attack and should have everything back online shortly.

Many thanks

Update 10:45 > This matter has now been resolved and we are monitoring network traffic carefully for any repeat’s of this. Apologies for the outage.

Update 14:25 > Our network is once again suffering a repeat Denial of service attack and we are currently working to resolve this outage once again.

Update 15:05 > All shared servers are now back online and we will continue to monitor network traffic very carefully for any repeat attacks.

Update 15:45 > Some of our upstream providers had over-zealously blocked a ton of IP’s during this DOS attack so some customers may have experienced a longer outage than what was caused by the DOS attack, this has now also been resolved and all services are back to normal.

Un-planned downtime

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Dear all

Just to let you know that the un-planned downtime this evening (11/08/2008 - 23:46 to 23:57) which lasted for 11 minutes was due to a technical hitch with new routing equipment being installed to make planned adjustments to our network.

We were prepared for the worst, and kept the downtime to an absolute minimum of 11 minutes total.

Thank you all for your patience during this brief outage.

X-Cart slow - SEO URL’s broken (DSEFU)

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Dear x-cart customers

If you are currently experiencing problems with your store loading times where pages are taking 30 seconds or more to load, and your search engine friendly URL’s are all broken, this is an issue with your DSEFU mod install.

The problem was actually caused by the fact that the guy that wrote DSEFU @ safetynetweb.com wrote it in a way that it makes a callback to the safetynetweb licence server every single time your pages load, yet they have no backup of this, and no other servers.

So, what you need to do now, is contact safetynetweb.com asap and ask them to fix your mod pronto, this is why your pages load slow, and the SEO URL’s are broken.

You can read all about this here: (Login to read)
http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=40180

It was caused by an explosion at “the planet” datacentre in the USA which you can read about here: http://service-update.theplanet.com/

Anyway, sadly there is nothing we can do to asist with this as it relies 100% on the staff at safetynetweb.com and is in no way a problem with your web hosting accounts with us, and is not a problem with our networks.

Many thanks
